The RMI Electronic Bill of Lading solution (e-BOL) provides rail and intermodal shippers with the ability to enter and electronically transmit bills of lading to the railroads. The system is internet-based, and utilizes industry standard EDI transaction sets so that a shipper can forward a bill of lading to any railroad using one common interface.
Users can maintain a database of repetitive billing patterns with variable fields that let you enter information rapidly.
The system handles acknowledgements from the railroads indicating whether or not the bill was received and if it passed all of the "functional" edits in the railroad’s internal system. Any errors are indicated in the acknowledgement message, and these errors are displayed so that the user can easily make corrections and re-transmit the bill.
Once the bill is successfully transmitted to the railroad, copies can be forwarded automatically via e-mail to additional parties in the bill such as consignees or third party. Because e-BOL is completely integrated with the ShipperConnect RailCarrier Interface and Yard Management System, users can point and click on a car from either of these systems to initiate bill of lading entry and transmission.
