CN has reached a new five-year agreement with RMI for the continued use of its OASIS software for the operational control of CN’s intermodal terminals.
CN, the largest railway intermodal carrier in Canada, has been using OASIS at its intermodal terminals since 1996. OASIS is a comprehensive decision support system that provides intelligent automation of intermodal terminal operations using sophisticated algorithms for solving logistical problems that arise in intermodal rail yards. In addition to the OASIS Terminal Operating System, CN uses RMI’s OASIS Vantage Business Intelligence interface for greater real-time visibility of intermodal operations.
“OASIS has worked extremely well for us for over a decade, and CN is pleased that RMI is committed to investing in the software to ensure it meets our needs in the future,” said CN’s Pierre Arsenault, General Manager Systems Operations-Intermodal. “The integration of the latest version of OASIS Vantage for our new Gate Operations process has gone extremely well and clearly demonstrates for us that OASIS is the most innovative software for intermodal terminal management. We look forward to continuing to work with RMI as we continue to grow our intermodal business.”
RMI Vice President of Intermodal, Scott Holland, said, “We are extremely pleased to have extended our agreement with CN for another five years. CN’s commitment to OASIS is exciting for us as we continue to enhance OASIS to further automate and optimize intermodal terminal operations. Integration with evolving automation technology and the addition of sophisticated optimization logic are integral OASIS roadmap components.”
“In order to achieve the optimum level of efficiency, it’s critical to utilize the right software to take full advantage of the capabilities of new technology. We feel that OASIS is the best option to help us realize our terminal throughput goals going forward,” added Arsenault.
